Snipers from the Golani Brigade Need Your Support to Purchase Essential Equipment
What's happening?
The Yad Yitzchak Foundation rarely takes on fundraising campaigns related to military procurement — and only does so for units whose members we know personally or who come to us through trusted recommendations. Before Hanukkah, we successfully completed a campaign to purchase thermal scopes for engineering units.
Now, based on a recommendation from a well-known military blogger and expert on weapons and army-related topics, soldiers from the Golani Brigade have approached us for help in purchasing specialized sniper backpacks and tripods.
A key question likely comes to mind: Why doesn’t the army provide this equipment?
We have a clear answer. The army is a vast bureaucratic system that cannot always technically adapt to the specific needs of individual soldiers or small units. On the scale of the military, it is not feasible to procure 5 backpacks or 9 tripods. Army purchases are made in thousands of units, which makes it impossible to account for narrow specializations and the most up-to-date technologies.
Put simply: the army provides the basics. When soldiers need comfort, usability, higher quality, or individualized solutions, they are often forced either to purchase equipment themselves (as many reservists do) or to seek help from volunteers, nonprofit organizations, or concerned individuals.
What may be merely inconvenient in the rear can become critical in combat conditions. The better our soldiers are equipped, the more effective and operational they are — this is a fact. Proper, well-suited equipment does not just improve performance; it saves lives.
How the procurement works — and how we ensure transparency
As mentioned, we rarely take on such campaigns and only from units we know well or that come with strong recommendations from people we trust. We always request official confirmation letters from commanding officers to ensure that the equipment is genuinely needed and not a spontaneous request.
All purchases are made directly from the foundation’s account. The equipment is shipped straight from the supplier’s warehouse to the soldiers. We also ask for unpacking videos, in which the soldiers confirm that all required items have been received. At this moment, there is an urgent need for specific equipment.
We need to purchase seven shooting tripods at a cost of 900 shekels per unit, for a total of 6,300 shekels.
In addition, seven spotter’s tripods are required, also priced at 900 shekels each, totaling 6,300 shekels.
We also need eleven specialized backpacks for carrying equipment and sniper rifles, costing 2,400 shekels per unit, for a total of 26,400 shekels.
The total amount required for this purchase is 39,000 shekels.
We are reaching out to everyone who cares about the land of Israel.
The war is not over. Supporting those who defend our peace with weapons in their hands is a profound responsibility — and an opportunity to say “thank you” to the soldiers for everything they do for us.
