Support for parents of children with developmental and behavioral differences, including autism and ADHD
What's happening?
💛 Every mother wishes that her child will grow up happy and easily find their place and calling in life.
Unfortunately, every year the percentage of children diagnosed with developmental “differences” increases.
This doesn’t mean that more such children are being born – it means that the level of understanding among doctors is growing – that there are no stupid, lazy, inattentive, or ill-mannered children – any deviant behavior of a child may be an alarming symptom.
✨ It’s important to understand that autism and ADHD are not illnesses – they are features of neural connection formation.
And when these children behave “differently,” outside of social norms, it’s not bad parenting or lack of discipline – they truly can’t cope.
A striking example was given by a mother of four neurotypical children:
“People on the autism spectrum often cannot cope in a regular classroom because many children make different noises or do different things. Their neurons send signals equally to what the teacher says, the rustling of someone’s notebook, and the flickering of a lamp — causing sensory overload and breakdown.”
💙 For a child with autism or ADHD to live adequately in society, to socialize, get a profession in the future, and even serve in the army – the diagnosis and real picture must be understood as early as possible.
Israel has excellent conditions for social adaptation and development of such children – small specialized classes and individual learning programs, institutions that accompany such children in schools, and a million types of therapy, including art therapy.
The state invests huge funds in helping these children – benefits, health fund programs, and various forms of family support.
The earlier a child begins therapy and socialization – the higher the chances of success.
⏳ Every minute counts.
😔 Unfortunately, there is one problem that has not yet been solved – there are very few psychiatrists, neurologists, and clinical psychologists in the country who can conduct an initial diagnosis and create an individual “road map” for the child.
Waiting times can reach a year or more, especially when it comes to Russian-speaking specialists.
Precious time slips away like sand.
🌿 There is a solution.
Turning to private specialists authorized to make such diagnoses.
The cost of diagnosis and the development of an initial treatment and adaptation plan ranges from 3,000 to 20,000 shekels, or more, depending on the complexity of the case.
Not every Israeli family, especially olim hadashim, can afford to spend such an amount only on initial diagnosis.
🤍 The Yad Itzhak Foundation is launching a new campaign to create a reserve fund to help parents of children with developmental differences, autism spectrum disorders, and ADHD.
With the collected funds, we will be able to partially or fully co-finance paid medical care for young patients – significantly easing the burden on their parents.
🕊 Helping families raising children on the autism spectrum is, above all, an investment in our common future.
These children will grow up and become an important part of Israel’s population – and it’s vital that they can live independently, work, study, pay taxes, serve in the army – be ordinary Israelis.
💫 Every minute, every shekel here is an investment in what Israel will become in 10, 15, or 20 years.
🙏 Don’t pass by!
