Shavuot 2026: Leave the Corner of Your Field
What's happening?
On Shavuot we read the Book of Ruth, and through that story we encounter the law of Pe’ah: a landowner is not allowed to harvest the entire field. A corner must be left for those who have nothing — the widow, the lonely, the person who can no longer manage on their own.
In the past, everyone had a field. Today, our “field” has a different name: our salary, our business, our bank account. And the people who come for help are not “others.” They are the same people who, just yesterday, lived alongside us and lived much like we do.
When “normal” stops working
Over the past year, the cost of living has risen so sharply that even those who never used to check their receipts now feel it. For many, it became a breaking point. They work, they try, they do everything right — and at some point they realize: there isn’t enough money even for basic food.
The hardest part is that moment, on the eve of a holiday, when a father realizes he won’t be able to set the table for his children.
Why this is about Shavuot
For most people, Shavuot is associated with an evening when the home fills with dairy dishes, conversation, and the feeling that the family is together.
For dozens of families now turning to the foundation, the question is much simpler: will there be anything on the table at all that evening? Not abundance, not beauty — just something decent, something human.
This is the meaning of Pe’ah.
What we’re asking from you
We are not asking for the impossible.
We are asking for what tradition has called for over thousands of years: to leave a portion for those who cannot make it right now.
₪180 — Take part in a holiday table
You cover the essentials — traditional dairy products and cheeses for a family of 4–5. You lift the main financial burden from the parents.
₪360 — A complete holiday table
You fully cover the cost of Shavuot for one family (including fish, dessert, and drinks). The fridge is full, the holiday is saved.
₪1,800 — Support a micro-community (5 families)
Your “corner of the field” will feed 20+ people. Meaningful help for those ready to support several families at once.
Behind these numbers are real groceries, a real table — and children who will sit down to it.
How we work
The Yad Yitzhak Fund personally supports each family and verifies every request. The money doesn’t go “somewhere” — we either purchase food directly or provide vouchers to specific people. Every “ear of grain” you leave is delivered to someone who truly needs it.
Support the Shavuot campaign
You can pass by.
Or you can do what tradition has been teaching us for centuries — leave a corner of your field.
Because right now, it’s simply the right thing to do.
At this moment, one simple question is being decided:
will these families have a Shavuot at all?
Leave your corner of the field.
